Cooking with Dad
Simple Recipes for the Little One and the Big Guy
2009-06-19
By Charlotte Lyons

Clearly among the most powerful and lasting memories children hold with them for life are those involve the aroma, taste and experience of food.  A day off for golf, a new tie, a new gadget – all fine things for Dad. But today’s men are obsessed – appropriately so - with the concept of legacy. Money and things soon fade away, but you leave memories forever. leave behind. By all means, give a gift this Father’s Day, but the better gift would be to help create a memory.

Here are simple and tasty recipes that are easy and safe for children. No knives, nothing that will burn. Just fun together with Dad. Enjoy -- Charlottee

Flower Biscuits
2 tablespoons butter or margarine
1 10-ounce package refrigerated biscuits
Your favorite jam or jelly

1. Heat the oven to 400 degree. Melt butter in small saucepan. Place biscuits 2 inches apart on ungreased cooking sheets. To make the daisy design, use the kitchen scissors to make 5 small cut around the edge of each biscuit. Do not cut all the way to the center.

2. Press your thumb into the center of each biscuit to make an indention. Spoon 1/2 teaspoon of your favorite jam or jelly into center of each biscuit. Put the cookie sheet into preheated oven. Bake biscuits for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden. Brush with melted butter.

3. Use hot pads to remove cookie sheet from oven. With pancake turner, lift biscuits off cookie sheet and onto a serving plate. Serve warm.
