Update Two
RAY: We’re local celebrities now! Everybody’s saying we’re superstars. The main thing we’re trying to do is get them to come on board with us. You know -- follow behind us and see how it’s done. My mother and father started last week. My mom cleaned out her cabinets and bought stuff to do a detox with. My dad is coming along with it. He’s not too big on the fruits & veggies. He’s wondering where’s the meat.

Since the magazine came out, we’ve just been maintaining; going to the gym every day. This week we’re going to eat cereals (whole grain) every morning. Salads for lunch. Tuna for dinner. Lots of water.  The brown rice? We took some of the advice, tried the recipes people left on the comments to try different seasonings. They helped. Surprisingly, I’ve been doing pretty good on the fried foods.

Energywise, I’m jumping right up in the morning. I’ve been working on my cardio. We have been walking in the afternoons as soon as we get home from work.

I got on the scale last Tuesday. I was at 205 to start. Now I’m at 195. One eighty-five is my goal. So I could probably do more cardio and get down to at least 190. Kendra went down in her pants size. Our faces have cleared up, we look healthier, and our eyes look whiter. No headaches or anything since we started the diet.

Update One
This is Week 5 for us, and it’s going really good.
We had a really great start then we slowed down because we moved. Our program hasn’t gone completely downhill, but we’ve been trying to get back on track.

The first 3 weeks both of us lost about five pounds. Right now we’re maintaining, so within the next week, we’re trying to get back on schedule to continue losing.
We weren’t doing so bad to begin with, but we weren’t eating enough of the right things.
We didn’t have enough fresh fruit and vegetables in our diet. A lot of the things we’re eating we were used to, but we’re now eating a healthier version. For instance, we were doing the punches, thinking they were OK because it was still juice. And we ate more canned than fresh fruits and vegetables.

We’ve started on a lot of green salads, fresh vegetables – squash, zucchini, cucumbers, tomatoes. Not that we didn’t like those things, we just never bought it.
Canned was easier, quicker, and, to me tasted better, because you didn’t have to season as much.

We grew up eating that way, so we just kinda cooked a lot of the same things. We’ve been trying the recipes from Dr. Ian’s book. We absolutely love the grilled salmon from there! Marinated with onions and garlic. That one’s our new favorite recipe! We changed a lot in the way we season our food. We’ve been doing a lot of seasoned salt & pepper, but there are a lot of herbs and natural seasonings in the book.

Brown rice? Still don’t know what to do to make that taste better. We’re having a hard time with that one. Trying to moisten it, but I’m convinced there’s nothing you can do with that.

We had to break for a week and do the detox. Just continuing the regimen. Detox was difficult because it was no meat – just fruit & vegetables. The detox was more difficult for Ray. At end of week, we still wanted meat, but since we’ve started the diet as a whole, we don’t eat as much. Portion control is getting easier.

Before we moved we would do the gym everyday: Treadmill for 30 minutes, bike 30 minutes. Gym in AM and walk PM. It’s very rigorous, but I can tell the days when I don’t exercise, because I feel tired. When we first started we’d wake up so sore the next day.

Ray’s weakness is the food and mine is the exercise. So, when he wants to get seconds, I check him. And he checks me for exercise.

We’re seeing health benefits already. I was tired all the time, my skin was breaking out, crazy things. We’ve just noticed really big changes. In the morning I’d always want to snooze, but now I’m ready for my day. My body is just thanking me right now.
