Update Two
AARON: Everything’s been pretty good. We’ve been on the diet. We’ve been working out every day. I’m still not feeling the brown rice, but I do whatever I have to do. I don’t eat it too often, but every once in a while. I can’t use all of the stuff I’ve been using for flavor, so I haven’t had it that often. For me the fish and veggies are the main thing. Lots of fruit, salads and stuff. Nothing fried at all. That’s killing me. I’ve tried to jump on board with that unsweetened juice, but…And water can’t do you wrong.
We pretty much have been eating at home. For me it’s kind of hard to go out somewhere to eat and maintain that diet. At a dine-in restaurant, all I’m thinking about is back sliding. So we cook. I cook the fish – the salmon & stuff we eat. Steph cooks the catfish.
I take whatever we have for dinner for lunch, and everybody at work stays on me about what I’m eating at the job. It’s hard for me to do the 5 snacks per day, but I count. Oatmeal in the morning then a fruit snack, then whatever leftovers I have for lunch.
Oh man, that magazine coming out! Stephanie was the one running around telling all her friends she was going to be in the magazine. I wasn’t really telling anybody about it.
Then, I went for my medical inspection for overseas, and the lady at the office said, “Wait a minute, I’ve seen you somewhere!” And she pulled out the magazine in front of the officer I was with. She went back to the office and told EVERYBODY! It seems like everyday now somebody says something about it. Guys have been making copies, posting the page in their office. Oh, you’ve got jokes! So I give them autographs.
My XO (executive officer) calls me a metrosexual dude because I keep my hair cut, my nails clean. He started flexing his muscles. He says “I’m gonna make you ripped! You’re gonna be the poster boy for this thing!” Working out with him has been good for me, but he’s into weight training -- it makes for a lot of sore muscles.
Stephanie had pulled out some clothes. She said “Oh I can fit these!” I said “Oh, are those the 6s?” She said “No, these are the 8s!” The 8s! What were you wearing before!
But seriously, her friends are noticing. Now we don’t have 2 and 3 trips to the closet anymore. We’re a little closer to leaving on time.
Update One
We were a week behind starting, so this is Week 4 for us.
Last week was my last week of school so it will be a lot easier to work out every day.
I’ve been exercising two times a week. Going on walks. Our meal amounts have been decreased and we’ve increased the number of servings we have in a day.
We’re eating fresh fish, fruit, veggies, but canned is a lot more convenient (and taste a lot better too.) We went from white to brown rice, which was like culture shock. Aaron still eats white rice. He is not feeling the brown rice.
I have one more final, then I’ll be able to work out every day. I just signed up for a fitness class. I won’t be working out with Aaron because he thinks he knows everything. It’s better for me to work out without him.
I’m not unhealthy, I’m not obese, I just want to fit into my clothes. When I moved to San Diego, I wasn’t working the first 2-3 months I was out here, so I was just cooking and going to sleep. I got the “itis” real bad.
Aaron hurt his ankle, so he couldn’t work out every day. I’d cook southern meals – homestyle meals, and it eventually caught up with us. We’re both short – I’m 5’4” and he’s 5’5” I’m too short to be this little. I have hips and curves and I’m just not feeling it.
Aaron’s back to working out for almost two hours every morning. He can see his belly going down. I’m trying to lose 20 lbs. I haven’t weighed myself, but I can tell by my clothes that I’m losing weight. It’s coming along, and I’ll know in the coming months, because I’ll have more time to monitor and see significant results.
July 26, 2008 is our wedding date. I plan to be a size 6 by then. I can fit my 8s again now, so I’m slowly but surely doing it.
