Update Two
Things are going really well. I came home on Sunday and will be home for a week and a half. Things have been going really, really good with the Challenge. I’m too scared to weight myself, but this past Sunday I put on a suit I hadn’t put on in a while. It was a lot looser. The shirt was a lot looser. That made me really happy.

I’ve being doing a lot more cardio. This week my goal was to walk in the morning and in the evening and to throw some swimming in there. I try to do a 20-25 minute walk. Dr. Ian said that cardio was the most important thing.

Last time we talked, the problem was the portion control. Today was a really great day. I had a banana, some oatmeal, and an apple. Then for dinner I had 1 cup of brown rice instead of 2. I noticed a difference immediately.

I’ve been getting lots of positive feedback. Saw you. Congratulations. There are a lot of people rooting for me. Proud of me for sharing my story. I’m just proud of myself for getting up and doing it. Not my favorite thing to do, but I like the results. Putting on that suit was great.

Just keep praying for me and sending up good thoughts.

Update One
I’m in Atlanta doing a festival in the park. This is the third week. It’s going pretty good. No complications. The food is pretty good. I’m eating mostly salmon, vegetables and brown rice. It’s going really well. As I go along, each week, I find new ways to intensify my plan.

Things are starting to take off in my career, and it’s a reality check. I started out really diligently, but the last 3 or 4 days, I’ve been eating the right things, just larger portions. I’ve got to get back to eating 4 or 5 times a day. I’ve got to find a way to get that done.

For instance, we flew into Atlanta, then on to Augusta. By the time we got to Augusta it was about one in the morning. Then I had to get up at 9am – that’s 7 hours of sleep. Once I got up, I had to pack up, perform, head back to Atlanta and perform 2 outdoor functions in one day. I’ve got to find mobile foods, like fruit. There’s nothing to pull from at the fairgrounds.

I haven’t been home to have my wife prepare the right foods. I had been gone about two days out of the week. This time, it’s going to be two weeks. I was out four days, home one night, left back out for Cleveland, Atlanta, Augusta & Chicago. I just need some more rest. You have to be really very strategic in terms of how you travel.

Like last week, we were at a sports bar and the only thing they had was salmon. So the only thing I ate for four days straight was salmon and salad. But I was mentally prepared, and when you’re doing something for your body, you make the choice. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t care what diet you’re on, you’re going to have to sacrifice. It’s really about choices. And there’s no way around that.

I’m learning by trial and error. There’s a certain Chinese food – ham fried rice, or corned beef sandwiches that you can’t get anywhere but Cleveland. I made myself go home because I didn’t want to do that. So I may have had a serving too much of the chips and salsa we are allowed to have, but I’d rather do that than go out and have the 4500 calorie corned beef sandwich.

Last week I worked out Mon & Tues. When I do, I do cardio – a half hour on elliptical or treadmill or working the glutes, and I also play racketball for two hours (doubles). The rest of the week I was traveling. No chance on Thursday or Friday, but I realize I need to intensify, meaning if I have to go outside and walk around the block, that’s better than nothing. I need to look for ways when there isn’t an obvious way. I need to make sure I’m consuming more water and more veggies.

I’ve noticed it in my clothes. Nothing dramatic, but I have a little bit more room in my shirts and my pants. I like the way I’ve been feeling. I can tell my stomach is going down. I’ve got a long way to go, but I notice the changes.
