Denver International Airport resumes normal operations after security issue

DENVER (KDVR) -- All security screenings, trains and departures were temporarily stopped at Denver International Airport after a security issue Friday afternoon.Specifics about the issue were not released, but the airport tweeted about the stoppage at 1:44 p.m. MT Friday. FOX31 Newsletters: Sign up to get breaking news sent to your inbox A passenger at the airport told FOX31 there was a loudspeaker announcement saying that there had been a "breach."Around 2:10 p.m. planes that had been sitting on the tarmac began taking off and shortly after the airport tweeted that normal operations were resuming.Friday is expected to be one of the biggest travel days of the year with this expected to be the third busiest holiday weekend of the year.About 78,000 passengers are expected to travel through the airport Friday according to a release from the airport.This is a breaking news story and will be updated as more information becomes available. 4 arrested, charged after stolen Jeep crashes during brief pursuit in Fort Lauderdale

Police arrested four people, including a juvenile, after a brief pursuit ended in a crash in a Fort Lauderdale neighborhood. According to Fort Lauderdale Police, officers were looking for a vehicle involved in a felony when they spotted the stolen dark gray 2019 Jeep Cherokee along the 3100 block of Davie Boulevard, Thursday afternoon.Detectives said officers attempted to pull over the Jeep, but the driver kept going.Witnesses said the Jeep slammed into a white car at the intersection of Southwest Third Street and 27th Terrace.A woman who identified herself as Patricia said she saw the Jeep zoom past her moments before impact.“Coming up, I heard this car, like, ‘urrrrrrr,’ and then they start like, ‘skrrr, skrrr,’ ’cause it almost hit my car,” said Patricia, who didn’t want to show her face on camera, “so, it went around my car, the car that’s turned over came around my car, and then the white car that was hit, it was kind ...

A suspicious person caused campus concern in Boca Raton.Police at Florida Atlantic University alerted its students about 47-year-old Carlos Alberto Montero, who was seen wandering around campus passing out flyers that promote tutoring services.Montero, a former Miami-Dade high school teacher, was arrested last October and was charged with sexual assault and obscene communication to seduce or solicit a child.According to authorities, Montero is currently out on bond.

Brockton schools superintendent opens up about district’s $14 million budget deficit as officials approve independent audit

Two firefighters hospitalized, roof caves in at New Bedford bar during blaze

A building in New Bedford was in flames Friday morning, sending two firefighters to the hospital, officials said.Firefighters reported to the building on County Street, with Tony’s Bar and Cafe on the first floor and four residential units above, at 6:30 a.m. The roof caved in as firefighters fought the flames throughout the morning, the New Bedford Fire Department shared on Facebook.The tenants on the upper floor apartments were safely evaluated as heavy smoke filled the first and second floors, crews reported.The two firefighters were brought to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Boston police seek help IDing person in connection with aggravated assault, robbery

Boston police asked for the public’s help Friday in efforts to identify a person in connection with an aggravated assault and robbery in Roxbury last month. The incident happened around 1 p.m. on Aug. 12 in the area of Allerton Street and Chesterton Street, according to police. Boston police shared photos of the suspect in the case, describing her as a female with brown hair with highlights, wearing a multicolored floral print dress and carrying a purse. A South Florida federal judge quickly dismissed a lawsuit against Donald Trump that sought to have the former president declared ineligible for another term as president.U.S. District Judge Robin L. Rosenberg ruled that plaintiff Lawrence Caplan, and two other plaintiffs he added to his original lawsuit against Trump, lacked the legal standing to bring the case.“Plaintiffs in this case similarly lack standing and, thus, this court lacks jurisdiction.
