Debris from implosion of Titanic-bound sub returns to land

Twisted chunks of the 22-foot submersible were unloaded at a Canadian Coast Guard pier on Wednesday.Horizon Arctic, a Canadian ship, carried a remotely operated vehicle, or ROV, to search the ocean floor near the Titanic wreck for pieces of the submersible. But storms were only one factor behind the travel nightmare. Staffing shortages, at both US airlines and the Federal Aviation Administration’s air traffic control operations, took a bad situation and made it worse.The situation at US airports was only slightly better Wednesday. As of noon ET, FlightAware tracking service reported there were nearly 800 flights canceled and another 1,400 delays. SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- San Francisco's plan to provide long-term housing for young adults experiencing homelessness at 1174 Folsom Street is facing backlash from some SoMa residents. In May, Mayor London Breed announced a proposal for the city to purchase a 42-unit building at 1174 Folsom Street for use as supportive housing for young adults. Alameda County ordinance passes, making it potentially illegal to watch sideshows

(KRON) -- It could soon be illegal to even watch a sideshow in Alameda County after the county's board of supervisors approved an ordinance prohibiting spectators at sideshows. The ordinance passed on Tuesday by a vote of 4 to 1, KRON4 confirmed. The ordinance prohibits spectators at sideshows, street races and reckless driving exhibitions. Spectators who violate the ordinance could be subject to fines of up to $1,000, a sentence of up to six months in jail, or both. $10,000 reward offered for solving Oakland flower delivery homicide "Spectators play a part in sideshow events by encouraging, popularizing, and facilitating these events," the ordinance reads. Rain has failed to quell Canadian wildfires, and more smoky haze is on the way, officials say

TORONTO (AP) — Canadian wildfires will send worsening smoky air across the country and neighboring United States in coming days after recent heavy rains failed to fall in areas of Quebec where the fires are most active, officials said Wednesday.Drifting smoke from the wildfires has lowered curtains of haze on broad swaths of Canada and the United States, pushing into southern Illinois, Indiana and Ohio, and moving into parts of West Virginia. Colorado gun sales strong amid national slowdown

DENVER (KDVR) -- Gun sales are coming back to earth after a post-COVID pandemic frenzy, and Colorado is relatively high on the list of states where buyers are most active according to an analysis from Safehome.org."In 2020, gun sales surged to the highest level in a decade, with nearly 9 million more sales than the previous year," the report reads. "This impressive increase of 64% marked the largest annual rise in two decades. Over the past two years, sales have decreased slightly from their record-breaking levels.
