LOUIS - St. Louis celebrates Pride Month at City Hall Monday.Several LGBTQ community leaders will be honored, including members of the Metro Trans Umbrella Group, St. Louis Queer Support Hotline, and Planned Parenthood. There will also be live music. Crews repair St. Charles water main break, historic Main Street closed St. Louis Recorder of Deeds Michael Butler says, "Our pride celebration is about embracing a spirit of inclusivity while championing equality, love, and dignity for all individuals and families."The pride celebration is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

ST. LOUIS - The Boys and Girls Club is getting 200 free computers Monday - courtesy of Compudot and AT&T.The refurbished laptops come with a 2-year warranty and free tech support. Amtrak's St. Louis-to-Chicago trains running at 110 MPH starting today

ST. LOUIS - Taking the train from St. Louis to Chicago will take less time starting Monday.Trains will now increase speed from 90 miles an hour to 110 between Alton, Illinois and Joliet. The new schedules for the "Lincoln service" will cut travel time by 15 minutes. The Spinks brothers get stars on the St. Louis Walk of Fame.Michael and Leon Spinks made history in 1976 as the first brothers to win Olympic gold medals in the same year. They later became the first brothers to win the World Heavyweight Championships as pros. Few mpox cases in Colorado so far this summer, but risk of another outbreak remains

So far, Colorado has only reported a handful of mpox cases this year, but health officials are urging at-risk people to get vaccinated and consider other precautions this summer.Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, took off in Colorado and nationwide in spring and summer 2022. The virus is native to parts of Africa and typically jumps into humans sporadically when people hunt or live close to animals that carry it. Last year, however, it was spreading between people in countries where it normally isn’t found, mostly through sexual networks.The mpox rash can resemble other sexually transmitted infections or even pimples, but often causes severe pain. Some people also experience flu-like symptoms. While it’s rare, some patients have developed organ damage from mpox infections.Last year, there were at least 404 cases in Colorado, and likely more that went unreported due to a lack of testing and awareness in the first month of the outbreak. There is something both silly and serious about the work of Justin Favela, the Las Vegas-based visual artist whose creations have become a common sight in museums and galleries across the United States.The frivolous part is his way of working — piñata-style — employing the instantly-recognizable method of cutting and overlaying tissue paper in bright colors that was, until Favela came onto the scene, largely reserved for covering actual piñatas.Piñatas are, of course, a staple of traditional Mexican culture that exist somewhere between artisanal craft and party decoration. Thomas and Schum wanted to eliminate the problem by developing a product that would use nature to decompose buried human waste.The Pact Outdoors bathroom kit, introduced in fall 2021, came with a small shovel to dig holes for burying waste, pellets inoculated with fungi to break it down, biodegradable tissues and a spritzer with sanitary hand spray.
