By Katie Lobosco | CNNWashington — If you forgot to file your taxes during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, you have until Monday to do so.Nearly 1.5 million taxpayers may still be eligible for a tax refund from tax year 2019, according to the Internal Revenue Service. By law, taxpayers normally have three years to file and claim their tax refunds. The original tax day in 2020 was delayed by 90 days due to the pandemic, so the usual three-year window has also been pushed back to July 17.There is no penalty for filing late if a taxpayer is owed a refund, according to the IRS.If taxpayers don’t file in time, Treasury keeps the money.How to file your 2019 federal tax returnThe 2019 return must be filed on paper, rather than electronically, and be postmarked by July 17.Tax year 2019 forms can be found online on the IRS Forms, Instructions and Publications page or by calling 800-TAX-FORM.Taxpayers who can’t find their 2019 income information may need to request a copy of ...

Biden administration announces $39 billion in student debt relief following administrative fixes

By Sam Fossum, CNNThe Biden administration announced Friday that 804,000 borrowers will have their student debt wiped away, totaling $39 billion worth of debt, in the coming weeks due to fixes that more accurately count qualified monthly payments under existing income-driven repayment plans.“For far too long, borrowers fell through the cracks of a broken system that failed to keep accurate track of their progress towards forgiveness,” Education Secretary Miguel Cardona said in a written statement.There are currently several different kinds of income-driven repayment plans for borrowers with federal student loans, which base payments on a borrower’s income and family size – regardless of their total outstanding debt. (KRON) -- The Fremont Police Department is asking for the public's help in locating a 20-year-old woman who was last seen Thursday morning in the 36000 block of Fremont Boulevard.Husna Enayat is five feet, two inches tall and weighs 132 pounds, according to police. Serbia halts arms exports after US sanctioned the country’s spy chief for alleged illegal arms trade

BELGRADE, Serbia (AP) — Serbia suspended all arms exports for 30 days, the defense minister said Friday, just days after the United States imposed sanctions on the Balkan country’s intelligence chief over alleged illegal arms deals and other criminal activities.Defense Minister Miloš Vučević said that the export ban is necessary in order to fulfill the needs of the Serbian army and boost its combat readiness amid the simmering crisis in the Balkan region.“It does not mean Serbia is going to war or calling for war, but we are looking at all security risks and challenges,” Vučević said.Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić first announced the move several days ago.
