Green Day has announced a massive 2024 tour.And the East Bay act — featuring Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool — will have some mighty cool company for the road show, with Smashing Pumpkins, Rancid and The Linda Lindas signed up as the support acts in North America and Nothing But Thieves, The Hives, Donots, The Interrupters and Maid of Ace setting the table in the United Kingdom and Europe.Green Day’s The Saviors Tour — in support of the soon-to-released album of the same name — begins its North American run on July 29 at Nationals Park in Washington, DC and includes a stop in San Francisco.The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is set to perform Sept. 20 at the home of the San Francisco Giants — Oracle Park.“We’ve never been more excited to unleash new music than with Saviors, a record that’s meant to be rocked live, together. San Francisco home invaders still on the loose

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- A group of robbers who carried out a San Francisco home invasion is still at-large one month later. The violent robbery happened just after 3 a.m. on the 200 block of Santos Street on October 2.Police said four thieves armed with firearms broke into the house and assaulted a victim. The group stole "numerous items from the house, as well as two vehicles," according to the San Francisco Police Department. The victim was treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. No arrests have been made. Anyone with information is asked to contact SFPD at 415-575-4444.

San Jose water main breaks, 24 customers impacted

(KRON) -- A water main broke in San Jose overnight, resulting in impacts for 24 customers, according to San Jose Water. The utility responded to a code three water main break on Martha Street at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a spokesperson. Boarded-up San Jose home shown in realtor’s viral video sold for $780K A 12-inch cast iron main ruptured, resulting in traffic delays and "significant cleanup," the utility said. Crews are currently on the scene.Repairs are not estimated to be complete until about 6 p.m. Cleanup will likely continue into the night, according to SJ Water.Video from the scene showed a truck being towed out of what appeared to be a sinkhole.

Jewish parents pen letter to Berkeley school district demanding better student protection

(KRON) -- Parents of Jewish students sent a letter to the Berkeley Unified School District Wednesday demanding that the district do more to for "students' physical and psychological safety in school." The letter, which was attached to a petition with over 800 signatures, stated that since the Oct. 7 Hamas attack on Israel, Jewish students had been subject to increased antisemitic comments from other students."We are dismayed, disappointed and frightened by the district's lack of care for our students' physical and psychological safety in school since the October 7 terrorist attacks, which killed more Jews than in any moment in our history since the Holocaust," the letter read. Sale of federal oil and gas leases in Gulf of Mexico off again pending hearings on whale protections

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — An upcoming sale of federal Gulf of Mexico oil and gas leases was officially postponed Thursday amid legal fights over protections for an endangered species of whale. A federal appellate panel last week paused a separate appeals panel’s order that the sale be held next Wednesday. Oil industry advocates had pressed President Joe Biden’s administration to go ahead with the sale anyway. But the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management said it was postponing the event because of the legal uncertainties heading into a Nov. 13 appeals court hearing. The lease sale, called for in 2022 climate legislation that was part of the Inflation Reduction Act, was announced earlier this year. The available tracts covered a broad area of Gulf waters off the coasts of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. It was originally scheduled for Sept. 27.
