(The Hill) -- CNN political commentator Van Jones said Monday that he would not be surprised if Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg held back on indicting former President Donald Trump — arguing that the prosecutor should wait for the former president to be slapped with more serious charges.“I think that the heat is on this DA, I think he’s going to make a very sober decision and I would not be surprised if he doesn’t step back from the brink,” Jones said on CNN Monday night.That “heat” comes after Trump claimed over the weekend that he would be arrested amid the Manhattan DA's probe into hush-money payments to adult film actress Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election. 2 hospitalized after 2-vehicle crash in north Travis County, ATCEMS says

TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) -- Two people were hospitalized after a two-vehicle crash just northwest of Austin Tuesday, Austin-Travis County EMS said in a tweet.Shortly after 11:15 a.m., ATCEMS medics and the Austin Fire Department responded to the crash at 13047 Pond Springs Road, the tweet said. Medics said one patient was pinned in their vehicle, and extrication was in progress.Furthermore, medics confirmed both patients were taken to St. David's Round Rock with serious injuries.The crash remained under investigation Tuesday.

UT professor, Uvalde author named 2023 Women of the Year honoree

AUSTIN (KXAN) — A University of Texas at Austin professor and Uvalde-born author was named one of USA Today's Women of the Year for 2023. Monica Muñoz Martinez, a UT associate professor of history, was honored for "her active participation in speaking out about the 2022 Uvalde shooting and in developing solutions that address racial injustice," according to a release.Muñoz Martinez was nominated alongside Michelle Obama, Goldie Hawn, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Sandra Day O'Connor and other national honorees. The women are nominated for breaking barriers to make significant changes in their communities and around the world, a release said.In 2021, she received a "genius grant" for her work that highlighted racial violence along the U.S. southern border. Warming temperatures have offered St. Paul Public Works the opportunity to open its mixing plant and begin patching potholes throughout the city using a hot asphalt mixture, a more permanent solution than the temporary cold mix employed in recent days.“Please be patient as we start to patch with hot mix,” said Public Works, in a statement released to social media on Tuesday morning. “We are prioritizing arterial high volume traffic streets first.”With more than 80 inches on record, a winter snowfall for the history books coupled with high humidity have left metro-area streets riddled with craters, some of them visibly unsafe to drive over. Albany man sentenced to 11 years for possessing an illegal handgun

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany man found guilty of possessing an illegal handgun has been sentenced to 11 years in State Prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision. According to the indictment, Ahquis Tarver, 31, had knowingly possessed the handgun on or about May 26 in the area of Ontario and First Streets. The announcement was made after Tarver was convicted on January 18 for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree. According to Albany Police, responding officers on May 26 talked to a victim who had their bike stolen by Tarver. The adult-only event is for those 21 years and older. There is $5 entrance fee per person.
