British man climbs 72 floors up the outside of South Korea’s Lotte Tower in Seoul

Seoul, South Korea (CNN) — A British man made it more than halfway up the exterior of the world’s fifth tallest building Monday before he was stopped and handed to police, according to South Korean authorities.The man, in his twenties, was forced to abandon his free climb of the 123-floor Lotte World Tower in the South Korean capital Seoul, the Songpa Fire Station said in a press release.He had reportedly scaled the outside of the skyscraper to the 72nd floor without any equipment before fire officers intervened.The Songpa Fire Station said its force arrived on site at 7:56 a.m. local time and “rescued” the man by putting him into a maintenance cradle and pulling him into the building.The man was identified as George King-Thompson, a well-known urban climber, Lotte Property & Development, the parent company of Lotte World Tower, told CNN over the phone.He was spotted by a security officer who was working on the 42nd floor and called the police, Lotte said.Police are investigatin...

If UPS workers strike, it would be the largest single-employer strike in US history. He believes the ancient discovery belonged to a legendary beast.Boat captain Michael Nastasio could not believe what he was holding.“It makes me feel like I got a tooth I’ve been dreaming about since I started doing this,” he said. “It’s just – I don’t even know how to explain it. Arlington schools issue warning, delay opening after bear sightings

Schools opened an hour late in Arlington on Monday after several reported black bear sightings.In a statement the schools said, “Early this morning, there were multiple sightings of a bear in Arlington Heights, around the area of the Dallin, Brackett, and Peirce Elementary Schools. Trial of suspect in deadly 2019 stabbing in Worcester set to begin

The trial of a man accused of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend at a restaurant in Worcester in 2019 is set to begin on Monday.Opening statements are expected in the trial of Carlos Asencio, of Derry, New Hampshire, who is facin a murder charge in the July 3, 2019, death of Amanda Dabrowski inside O’Connor’s Restaurant in Worcester in front of patrons and workers. He has pleaded not guilty.Authorities say Asencio stabbed Dabrowski, 31, nearly 20 times in the neck and body before being subdued by patrons and restaurant staff. They had met at work and briefly dated, authorities have said.Asencio was initially found not competent to stand trial, but has since been found competent and transferred from Bridgewater State Hospital to the Worcester County jail.

Suspect in series of Charlestown rapes back in court for bail hearing

A suspect in a series of rapes in Charlestown will be back in court Monday for a bail hearing.Matthew Nilo, 35, pleaded not guilty in a Boston courtroom last week as he was arraigned on charges stemming from four sexual assaults that took place in Boston in 2007 and 2008. The charges include aggravated rape, kidnapping, and sexual assault and battery.During the arraignment hearing, prosecutors detailed four incidents, from August 2007 to December 2008, in which they say Nilo attacked several women. The suspect was in his 20s at the time and was a student living in the North End.Prosecutors say three victims underwent a sexual assault examination collection exam after the attacks. Up until recently, there were no DNA matches at the time. Nilo was arrested last week and appeared in a New Jersey courtroom before being brought to Massachusetts.Nilo is currently being held on $500,000 cash bail.

Arlington schools delayed after bear sighting

Schools in Arlington are being delayed this morning by an hour after a bear made several appearances in the Boston suburb.The bear was first spotted in the area in the area of Scituate Street at Spring, according to Arlington police.Officers responded and in a short time updated that the wandering bruin and then been spotted in the area of Paul Revere Road and Park Avenue.Arlington Police, along with the town’s animal control officer and the Massachusetts Environmental police have responded.Officers are also monitoring in the area of the town’s schools.Monday’s sighting comes after a bear caused a stir in Newton on Sunday.
